City of Vancouver Food Charter

On February 15, 2007, Mayor and Council unanimously adopted the Vancouver Food Charter, "an important step forward on the path to a just and sustainable food system for the city and its residents. The Charter is an ambitious, forward-thinking document that promotes education, celebration and real projects for a healthy economy, a healthy ecology, and a healthy society."

PHOOD's goal is to create a similarly ambitious document that is specific to our Grandview-Woodland neighbourhood and identifies goals and concerns particular to The Drive.

What do we eat in Grandview-Woodland?

As you know, food plays a vital role in our lives.
Help us create a vision for our Grandview-Woodland community that is both just and sustainable and that captures what we value and believe in when it comes to food. We are aiming to create a community-based food plan that will help guide and inform all levels of government, businesses, non-profit organizations, communities, families, and individuals in planning, policy development, programs, and practice. Let's work together to achieve food security in our community.

We are seeking your ideas, visions, and strategies, your descriptions of what a healthy food system looks like in Grandview-Woodland. Tell us what you think our community would look like if everything we ate was fair, healthy, and environmentally friendly. We ask you to help us by thinking about and answering these questions:

What already really works in Grandview-Woodland concerning food?

What would you like to see more of?

What would you like to see less of?

What do you think is missing?
